New Orleans Saints Trim Down to 75 Players

The New Orleans Saints were able to trim their roster down to 75 players today, ahead of the 4 PM deadline. Coach Sean Payton announced to released players in his press conference after practice today.

We learned about the Victor Butler cut yesterday, as it was rumored to happen from a credible source. Rod Sweeting played in nine games for the Saints last season. Perhaps the most shocking move outside of Victor Butler was the release of second year linebacker Kevin Reddick. Reddick played in all sixteen games last season for the black and gold, and mainly served on special teams.

It’s tough to see many of the younger players cut from this first wave to end up back with the New Orleans Saints on their 10-man practice squad. This is a true indication that the team might be keeping rookies Ronald Powell, Kasim Edebali, and Khairi Fortt. The team had previously parted ways with WR Andy Tanner, T Ty Nsekhe, DE George Uko, DE Chidera Uzo-Diribe, S Ty Zimmerman, RB Tim Flanders, and WR Tobias Palmer.
