As per WWL’s Kristian Garic, it looks as though the New Orleans Saints are deciding to part ways with linebacker Victor Butler.
#Saints will release LB Victor Butler per source. Saves team 1.5 million

It’s been a very disappointing journey for Butler, who joined the team in free agency from the Dallas Cowboys last offseason. He signed a two-year contract worth $3 million. The team had ‘high hopes’ for what Butler could bring to the table, as he was going to play a key role in helping teach Rob Ryan’s 3-4 defense to the Saints defense last season. Butler was arguably entering his prime when he joined to the Saints. Sadly, he was injured in training camp from a collision with running back Mark Ingram, which resulted in a torn ACL.
Who Dat Dish staff writer, Ian Mitchell-Dear, wrote an article five days ago asking: Will Victor Butler Make The Saints Roster? It appears the speculation was true. When things started this summer, Butler was a full participant at OTAs, and looked like he might have started opposite of Junior Galette. We would learn that he would be in a walking boot on August 3rd. Butler appeared at practice today on a limited basis.
Victor Butler, who just turned 27 in July, never played a single down for the New Orleans Saints.
