Titans vs. Saints: Who's Hot, Who's Not

It’s only preseason and we can’t exactly evaluate players as they’re not playing against starters all game long but there are some early impressions and a few interesting takeaways for every player who took the field in the first preseason contest. Let’s see a couple of them who shined and a couple who struggled.

Brandin Cooks

After gaining 55 yards and scoring an electric TD against the Rams Cooks continued to impress in the last week of training camp in West Virginia. He never had a chance to do anything on punt returns last week, let’s hope he shows us something against the Titans. Cooks will definitely be under the spotlight this Friday.

Derek Dimke

Dimke succesfully kicked a 37-yard field goal and a 33-yard extra point. He was also on the field for some kickoffs and showed smoothness and confidence while kicking the ball. It’s still early but it looks like he’s leading the race against Shyane Graham.

Mark Ingram

Angry Ingram is back! Last year he finished the season strong and he’s still running hard as he was named the unofficial #1 running back on the team. Check out a complete breakdown of Ingram’s runs against Rams HERE.

Stanley Jean-Baptiste

SJB is still raw and has some things to learn. He had some decent plays but I’m sure everybody remembers the bad one: he got beaten on 24-yard TD pass by Rams’ wide receiver Stedman Bailey, when he was late to turn his head back towards the ball and allowed a relatively easy catch. I’m sure he will get better as he gains confidence in the new system.

Shayne Graham

The veteran kicker was the first kicker to miss the “new” extra point, a field goal from 33 yards. He later made a 37-yard field goal but his “rival” Derek Dimke seemed to be more comfortable than him.

Khairi Fortt

Fortt is going through a position change from ILB to OLB so it’s not fair to expect an awful lot from him. The 4th-round pick had 1 solo tackle against the Rams and saw playing time on special teams too.
