It didn’t take long for Drew Brees to connect with his new toy when New Orleans Saints training camp kicked off this morning. Rookie WR Brandin Cooks apparently made a spectacular catch after the ball thrown by the Pro-Bowl QB was a bit late. The Black and Gold’s first-round pick adjusted, got in front of rookie safety Ty Zimmerman and leaped into the air to make the catch while falling back.
Cooks was also fielding Thomas Morstead‘s sky-high punts with fellow wide receiver Joe Morgan, who is looking for a bounce-back season after missing all of 2013 with a torn meniscus and partial-ACL tear. The thought of Cooks, Morgan and sophomore Kenny Stills on the field at the same time should be frightening to the opposing teams that are matched up with New Orleans this year.
Not like the feeling ever left, but now that training camp has returned and the new football season is just around the corner, you can really feel the electricity in the air. It’s almost game time and the Who Dat Nation is ready to rock and roll.
Could see more of this. Deep post from Brees to Brandin Cooks. Ball was late, Cooks adjusted to make the catch with Ty Zimmerman in coverage
