Just when you thought that negotiations were futile when Jimmy Graham had potentially ‘turned the corner’ when filing his appeal yesterday, news broke early this morning from Jimmy Graham that he and New Orleans Saints have struck a deal well before the 4:00pm deadline.
It’s official I’m bleeding black and gold this morning! Thank you WhoDatNation for all the support.

If you didn’t buy that, here’s a confirmation tweet from Greg Bensel, Senior VP of Communications for the New Orleans Saints.

As per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the reported deal is a 4-year, $40 million contract. $21 million is guaranteed for Graham. Graham’s deal would go through the 2017 season, which would leave Graham at thirty-one years old by the time the contract is over. Oh by the way, quarterback Drew Brees is set to become a free agent in 2017, and head coach Sean Payton’s last contract year is 2017.
Jimmy Graham has now officially become the NFL’s highest paid tight end in league history. As many have speculated, the $10 million price tag per year was clearly the sweet spot.
The Graham saga/drama is over now, and it appears the Saints organization can completely return to a sense normalcy.
