NFL Insider, Ian Rapoport, has reported the news that New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham has appealed arbitrator Stephen Burbank’s ruling that indeed classifies Graham as a tight end.

Are you surprised? If the answer is ‘yes’, then where have you been hiding? Contrary to popular belief, Graham is ‘rolling the dice’ with this appeal, as the franchise tag commands $12.3 million as a wide receiver.
Graham’s original deadline was midnight EST to appeal Burbank’s ruling, but if you have been following this story, you knew (or had to know) that this was coming. It’s a trying time right now, as Graham’s options are fairly limited. Graham either plays out the season as a tight end at a $7.035 million price tag, sign a long-term deal, or sit out the season.
Talks were reportedly put back at ‘ground zero’ the other day after Burbank’s ruling was handed out, and there was hope that the two sides would reach an agreement prior to the July 15th deadline of 4:00pm EST. By filing the appeal, it could mean that the Saints and Jimmy Graham are way off on a long-term contract.
Now, we’re left waiting. The appeal process will be heard by a three-member appeals panel.
What do you think will be the final outcome for Jimmy Graham’s season? Do you believe he will sit out? Could this just be a stall tactic? Are you just sick and tired of hearing about this? Sound off below!
