In case you were wondering ‘When will the decision be made on Jimmy Graham?’. We received a little bit of information on the expected ruling today that will impact the New Orleans Saints and tight end Jimmy Graham.
As per ESPN’s Adam Schefter:
Arbitrator Stephen Burbank expects to inform sides of his ruling on Jimmy Graham’s grievance vs Saints on July 3, “no sooner, no later.”
It’s been a long series of events leading up to this moment, and you can be certain that it won’t be over after the ruling comes. The losing party will be sure to appeal the decision, despite the outcome. The difference lies in just over $5 million, as Graham’s current franchise tag sits at $7 million, and Graham’s contested tag as a wide receiver would command $12.3 million.
The two parties will have until July 15 to work out a long-term contract. Regardless how the ruling goes, it will give one side a huge advantage for long-term negotiations. One would think general manager Mickey Loomis has a strong plan of attack, but being that things are so close to the deadline, Graham may ultimately have to settle on his tag.
Which way do you see this ruling going? Is it going to be in favor of Graham, or in favor of the Saints? Does a long-term deal get worked out prior to July 15? Let us know below!
