It seemed like it was going to be a quiet day today for the New Orleans Saints. After all, with what money did you expect to sign someone? News picked up recently, starting with former safety Malcolm Jenkins scoring a 3-year, $16.25M with the Philadelphia Eagles. However, the weirdest news to come out of today centers around the latest report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Bills free-agent S Jairus Byrd is on his way to New Orleans to visit the Saints, per source.

This comes as a shock. Byrd was rumored to be on the Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos, Cleveland Browns, St. Louis Rams, Miami Dolphins, and Washington Redskins radar as potential landing spots. He is seeking a huge deal, which would land him about $8-9M per year. Byrd is one of the top free agents of the 2014 off-season.
This is all speculation at this point, because the question remains: ‘How would the New Orleans Saints pay for Jairus Byrd?’. Perhaps Mickey Loomis has been working with some serious voodoo in the Saints front office. At this point, should the Saints somehow manage to land Byrd, he would join up with safety Kenny Vaccaro, and be one of the most terrifying combos in the NFL.
