For starters, just know that running back Darren Sproles was not listed on the official NFL Transaction Report today. So, Sproles is still a part of the Saints, for now. However, we bring you two moves from today.
As per NOLA.com’s Larry Holder, wide receiver Joe Morgan and fullback Jed Collins will become unrestricted free agents tomorrow.
The New Orleans Saints will not tender offers to restricted free-agent FB Jed Collins and WR Joe Morgan, which will make them unrestricted free agents. The team is still interested in re-signing both players.
We told you previously that the Saints did not have plans to tender defensive tackle Tom Johnson, and with the recent news of Collins and Morgan, that means the Saints only tendered one of their exclusive rights free agents, which was safety Rafael Bush.
The team may have intentions of bringing both players back to the team, and it’s easier to see Collins coming back versus Morgan. There could be a team that may want to spend some money on Joe Morgan’s potential, but they can’t look past his injury history.
Just remember, the team didn’t want to keep them at their restricted free agent tenders, which basically means they want them back, but at a cheaper rate. Don’t count on this to be the case though.
