This was a late announcement from last night, but the Saints have re-signed two players. Kicker Shayne Graham, and Tackle Bryce Harris will be back with the black and gold next season.
Graham, 36, signed a one-year contract for $955,000. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting this move. He would come in after Garrett Hartley was released, and would have a nice start as a Saint, but would miss two important kicks against the Seahawks in the Divisional Playoff game. This move is likely for some security, but I figured the team might have pursued some option via free agency at least. The Saints now have two kickers on their roster, and perhaps the Graham move is to help Derek Dimke.
Harris re-signed for $570,000, which is a pay bump from last season’s $480,000. Going back to my Saints 2014 Free Agent Rankings, I had Harris ranked at #10 for the Saints. I believe that if Zach Strief exits, then we have our starting right tackle.
2014 Outlook: As an ERFA, there’s no reason to not have Harris back in a Saints uniform. He currently backs up Zach Strief, and I don’t have to tell you how important it is that he stays a part of the Saints franchise if the unthinkable happens with Strief leaving.
