Crowded Backfield Means The Saints Trade Away/Release Someone

You have to wonder, but with five very capable and talented running backs, at what point does a team use that to their advantage? Pierre Thomas, Darren Sproles, Mark Ingram, Travaris Cadet, and Khiry Robinson have all played a part for the team in one way, shape, or form for the Saints offensive attack.

In an unfriendly cap situation, there’s uncertainty that all five return for 2014. Robinson and Cadet would seem to be the locks due to their youth, but with the other three? Who knows. Remember what the Saints got for Chris Ivory? A fourth round draft pick that would turn into nose tackle John Jenkins. It’s hard to say anyone other than Ingram would want to be a team’s full-time featured back, but there’s potential trade value in any of these backs.
