Who Dat Dish would like to personally thank New Orleans native Laura Bonura for writing this letter!
We believe in you.
I belong to a generation who can honestly and with confidence say: “These ain’t your daddy’s Saints”. What that means is, the fans of generations past were let down by the Saints. A lot. So when the Saints were down, let’s say, 14 points before the half – all hope was gone. And fans would sit back in their seats with their bags over their heads and look completely dejected because they never actually thought, not even for a second, that we would come back from that deficit.
I believe in Drew Brees. I believe in Sean Payton. I believe in our fans and our love for our Boys. I believe in our entire team, whether or not we have another Black and Gold Super Bowl this year. Because when you break it down, in this Payton era, 4 out of our last 6 seasons have been winning seasons (not counting our last season without Payton). And that is more than my dad’s generation could ever say.
The generation that I belong to is also the first generation to see their team become Champions, and who can honestly and with confidence say: “Keep the faith”. Because we know, no matter what, that we will rise to the top. Our team, our city, has come back from so much more than two dismal road losses.
So when I say to the Saints that I believe in them, I really mean it. And my belief is not based upon how many wins they get. It is based on the belief that the Saints of today are indeed, not my daddy’s Saints.
