Carolina Panthers

Carolina-Panthers

QB

After a slow start Cam Newton is playing like 2011 Cam and is the 4th-best fantasy quarterback, 2nd over the last four games with 1011 total yards, 8 total touchdowns and 2 picks. No doubt he starts for your team, mobile QBs like Cam Newton can hurt the Saints as we’ve seen last week.

RB

Jonathan Franklin is dealing with an injury and didn’t practiced Thursday so keep an eye on his status. Or don’t. Saints are stopping every running back they face. I mean, Marshawn Lynch was held to 45 rushing yards…how many is Tolbert gonna get? Not many is the answer. DeAngelo Williams has two TDs on the season and last week was inactive. Sit ‘em all.

WR

Think about Cam’s numbers if he had a decent receiver to go along with Steve Smith. Ok, don’t. Unless you get points for drops stay away from Ted Ginn. Brendon LaFell would be a nice bye week fill-in but there are no more byes so he has zero fantasy value: even Colston scored more points than him in the past four games. Steve Smith’s owner shouldn’t be too happy though, as Nfl.com’s fantasy guru Michael Fabiano reports:

Once one of the best wide receivers in fantasy football, Smith has seen his production and value drop this season. That’s not likely to change in an NFC South battle against the Saints, who have surrendered the fifth-fewest fantasy points (16.3 PPG) to opposing wide receivers on their home field in 2013.

TE

Greg Olsen is one of Cam’s favourite targets and is the 7th-best fantasy tight end (611 receiving yards, 5 touchdowns), scoring 8+ fantasy points in 6 games this year. Over the last four weeks the Saints had some problems stopping opposing tight ends (16th in the league) so he should start if he’s on your roster.

K

Graham Gano (owned in 12% of fantasy leagues) is a decent option averaging 8.25 fantasy points per game and the Saints are allowing 8 fantasy points to kickers over the last four weeks so he’s not a bad starter if you like him as your fantasy kicker.

D/ST

Together with Kansas City, Carolina has been one of the best waiver wire additions of the current season and they are the 2nd-best scoring defense with 147.00 fantasy points. The matchup isn’t good this week so you might wanna bench ‘em and maybe pick up San Diego (vs New York Giants) or Houston (@ Jacksonville).
