The New Orleans Saints are set to take on the Seattle Seahakws on Monday Night Football in Week 13. It’s arguably the best matchup of the year, especially considering the extensive playoff implications on the line.
It may also be a historical matchup as ESPN’s Mike Triplett illustrates:
Rare Monday night gem: According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Saints’ and Seahawks’ combined winning percentage of .864 is the second-highest of any “Monday Night Football” game ever played this late in the season. The highest was a 1990 matchup between the 10-1 New York Giants and the 10-1 San Francisco 49ers.
Tied for third on that list is the 2009 matchup between the 10-0 Saints and the 7-3 New England Patriots in the Superdome.
That means this is a real treat for NFL fans in general, not just fans of both teams. We’re sure the Saints and Seahawks will put on a great show, but this makes it even better.
Remember, the Saints and Seahawks are playing for NFC positioning and possibly the No. 1 seed and home field advantage in the playoffs.
Enjoy the show.
