So there it is.
The hit heard around the NFL when the San Francisco 49ers took on the New Orleans Saints Sunday has resulted in a fine for 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks.
Fans know the hit well. Here is the full report from Larry Holder of NOLA.com:
The NFL has fined Brooks $15,750 for his personal foul hit on Brees late in the Saints’ 23-20 win over San Francisco last Sunday in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, a source confirmed Wednesday. ESPN first reported the Brooks fine, while Brooks’ agent, Greg Williams, told the Sacramento Bee that Brooks will likely appeal the fine.
The penalty made sense in real time, which is how the official saw it. In slow motion, it doesn’t appear Brooks was particularly looking to hit Brees in the head, but the league office has decided to send a message anyway.
Alas, the Saints were helped in a big way by the flag and went on to win the game.
Do you agree with the flag and subsequent fine?
