The Resurgence of Marques Colston

At the risk of tooting my own horn, let’s go back to my Keys to the Game article.

Lastly, use the plethora of weapons. I alluded to this last week, and I told you that I would save it for this time, but I believe Marques Colston, assuming he plays, is about to have some huge games for the Saints. He’s been hurt, and has faced a good bit of scrutiny for his lack of presence. In big games, there’s really no other receiver I’d rather have than Colston. I honestly think he’s due, and will show it on Sunday night.

Welp, all Marques Colston did was have 7 catches on 8 targets for 107 yards, and scored the Saints first touchdown of the game from a 22-yard pass from Drew Brees. Colston averaged 15.3 yards per catch, and had his best game of the season. Clearly, that knee is feeling much better.

Colston is our ‘clutch’ guy, and he has been for years. Shame on all of you who thought otherwise. The next few games will ones to watch, as this shouldn’t be the last time we talk about Colston playing at a high level in big games.
