New York Jets

My goodness, what a shocker. I mean all Geno Smith did in his first Monday Night Football Game was tie a Dan Marino record from 1983 with 3 touchdown passes, and become only the 2nd rookie quarterback in the 44-year history of Monday Night Football to win on the big stage. Rex Ryan caused fits for the Falcons, and Smith had a great finishing drive that would set up the game winning field goal. I rag on the Jets, because it’s the Jets. But clearly, they are the better team in New York. When’s the last time you could safely say that?

Keep On Truckin’ 5-0 Teams

The Broncos came out victorious in their dogfight with the Cowboys 51-48, in a game where defense was really vacant. At this point last season, the Chiefs & Saints were 1-4. It’s amazing how much difference a coach makes.

Indianapolis Colts

I called this my upset pick of the week for Pick’em, and it may not have been the most crazy game of the week, but it sure did have the elements of the Seahawks moving to 5-0 to begin. However, T.Y. Hilton torched the Seahawks secondary for 140 yards, and 2 touchdowns. The Seahawks outgained the Colts 423-317, but the stops by the Colts defense to force field goals were the difference.

Honorable Mentions: Cardinals Tame the Panthers, Eagles Continue to Beat Up on the Giants, Jamaal Charles In Charge
