Saints vs. Bucs (First Quarter Reaction)

Well, that was interesting. Considering this first quarter started back at 3:05PM. As per the stat archives, the Saints haven’t had a weather delay since 1971. That was a preseason game, in Tulane Stadium, with 33 seconds left in the game.

Yikes.

At any rate, the first Saints drive was pretty routine, as it started at the Saints 20. Brees passed it 6 times, and there were 3 runs. The drive would stall, and the Saints would settle for a 44 yard Garrett Hartley Field Goal.

After the rain delay, that was longer than the Johnny Manziel suspension, and a horrible decision by Drew Brees  (as he was picked off by Dekoda Watson), the Bucs would march down the field. A blown assignment would lead to a Kevin Ogletree touchdown to give the Bucs the lead 7-3.

The Saints would respond accordingly, in just 6 plays. Brees hooked up with Jimmy Graham for a 56 yard touchdown, after no one on the Tampa defense accounted for Graham.

After the 1st Quarter, it’s 10-7 Saints.

Some Tidbits
