The Saints can Rush the Passer

Sep 8, 2013; New Orleans, LA, USA; Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan (2) gets sacked for a loss by New Orleans Saints linebacker Parys Haralson (98) during the third quarter at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Mandatory Credit: John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

I lost count of how many times Matt Ryan had to throw the ball away on account of the pressure that New Orleans was able to generate when they sent five-six guys after the quarterback. That pressure produced three sacks, two interceptions (the last one being on final play of the game to secure the win) and kept the Falcons off the board in the second and fourth quarter.

Newly-acquired Parys Haralson from San Francisco appears to be just what the doctor ordered blitzing from the outside linebacker position. Junior Galette and Haralson were able to get their first sacks of the year. This pass rush only improves when Martez Wilson comes back from his injury as early as next week.
