It’s that time of day again for New Orleans Saints News, Rumors and Links. Except today marks the final day before Saints football finally returns when the Saints take on the Atlanta Falcons in the Dome for an early head-start in NFC South Supremacy.
We’ll keep things brief today. Here area a few links to check out while fans await kickoff!
Per Jeff Duncan:
The Saints can’t afford anything less. A 2-2 start won’t cut it. There’s not much margin for error the rest of the way. October and November are meat grinders. Road trips to Chicago, New England and Atlanta are sandwiched around home dates with Dallas and San Francisco. The only potential breathers are against the Bills and Jets.
“It’s very important, just looking down the road, to get this game at home. It definitely helps because of our crowd,” Graham said. “We know it’s going to be a very physical game and everyone’s going to be treating it like a Super Bowl game.”
For the Saints, Sunday has to be their Super Bowl. More than ever, they need a strong start. And it begins with an opening victory against Atlanta.
Per NOLA.com’s Katherine Terrell:
This time, the final pregame speech was a bit more subdued.
“He said what he needed to say before we got ready to play,” said cornerback Jabari Greer. “Sean does a great job of understanding the temperature of the team. I believe he understands that everybody is ready and prepared to go.
“I think he understood he didn’t need to give a rah-rah speech.”
Greer said Payton also showed a video after practice, but he was coy about the details. That video will be played during pregame Sunday.
“I think that the fans will be pleasantly surprised,” Greer said. “They have to come in there and check it out.”
