The New Orleans Saints are set to take on the Houston Texans today in Week 3 preseason action that will see the team playing its starters for most of the game.
New Orleans is looking for a big win on the road, but more importantly, the team is simply trying to fit all the new pieces together on both sides of the ball.
Here are the things fans should know for today.
Per NOLA.com’s Terrance Harris:
“You have more people that can run, you’re more mobile, and I think it gives you matchup problems offensively with seeing who is coming,” Phillips said. “In the 4-3 they know who is coming, the four guys who have their hand on the ground almost every play. We have three guys with their hand on the ground but somebody else is coming.
“It’s still a four-man rush and you are still covering with the same number of people and similar coverages. But on the front they don’t know when they are coming or where they are coming from.”
Per NOLA.com’s Larry Holder:
“As a professional, you like to compete,” safety Roman Harper said. “You always want to play against the best of the best. Houston is one of those teams. They are one of the teams that everyone talks about every year. But we have a big chance in front of us.
“We are going to go out there and compete. We are going to play like the score does count, understanding going in to it that it is going to be fun. We need to start fast like we did last week, play well on third down, tackle well and to see how we do up front against this zone scheme.”
