New Orleans Saints News, Rumors and Links for 8/21

The third preseason game is on the horizon for the New Orleans Saints. Through two games we have learned plenty about the team, but Week 3 is typically the game in which most NFL teams play their starters the most in a final prep before the season.

Here are some of the Saints news, rumors and links from around the web with the game approaching.

Marques Colston is not fully recovered

Per ESPN’s Pat Yasinskas:

Receiver Marques Colston has practiced the last two days. But Colston said he has not fully recovered from a foot injury. I don’t expect to see much of Colston in the remaining two preseason games. The priority is to have Colston ready for the regular season. He already knows the offense well and the Saints need to look at some of their young receivers.

Luke McCown still has something to prove as backup QB

Per ESPN’s Pat Yasinskas:

Although the release of Seneca Wallace means that Luke McCown is the backup quarterback, McCown said he still feels like he has more to prove. McCown has had a strong preseason and he’s a veteran. The Saints are better off at backup quarterback than they have been in a long time.

Lance Moore ready for huge role in 2013—no matter what it is

Per NOLA.com’s Nakia Hogan:

Saints quarterback Drew Brees has the utmost confidence in Moore, who has caught at least 52 passes in four of the past five seasons.

“There are a lot of specialty things that he can do, too, that most guys just can’t do,” Brees said of Moore. “He has a great feel for the game. He’s such a pro, too. If you watch the way he prepares, not only out here in practice but in the weight room and as far as taking care of his body, you definitely have to have a plan in that regard. And he’s a great guy for young receivers to follow in every facet of his game.”
