Yes. Training camp has started. Football is close. And so is fantasy football! In the next few lines we want to take a look at Mark Ingram’s fantasy value for the 2013 season. Of course if you think about Saints running backs in terms of fantasy football you have to go Sproles first, but we’re looking for a deep (maybe the deepest of the entire league at his position) sleeper.
Consider that after two unsatisfying seasons (10 touchdowns in two years) the majority of fantasy owner aren’t likely to want him in their teams. Wrong. What you’re going to get out of Ingram next season is a great No. 4 running back that can even turn into a good No.3 option later in the season, and here’s why:
- Chris Ivory is out of town and Ingram’s number of touches will increase, as Mickey Loomis stated during the first press conference of training camp;
- Everybody, from the coaches to the board and his teammates, believes in him and his role will be “more expansive”, as the man himself said in a recent interview (that means he’s gonna catch some balls a-la Pierre Thomas);
- It’s season three and the former Heisman Trophy winner doesn’t want to be labeled as a bust, he is willing to bring his A-game next season.
My prediction is that he will run for 800-875 yards and will score 6-8 TDs on the ground. Add to that 10-15 receptions and 1-2 air TDs.
