It’s hard to be a running back for the New Orleans Saints, but Pierre Thomas has done a heck of a job over the past few seasons. He’s been overshadowed but quietly one of the more underrated players in the NFL.
Thomas knows his stuff, so when he speaks you tend to have to listen.
That is especially the case here at Saints training camp, where Thomas had some very high praise for rookie safety Kenny Vaccaro.
In the video provided by Katherine Terrell of NOLA.com, Thomas says he can already tell Vaccaro is a very special player. Thomas says he will wait to pass a full judgment until he sees Vaccaro in full pads here later in camp, but so far Vaccaro has been nothing but a player to watch.
Vaccaro already gaining the praise of important veterans is nothing but a good sign. He’s going to have to earn playing time with Malcolm Jenkins and Roman Harper in the way, but this is a good start.
That’s not to say Vaccaro won’t see plenty of time, but this is encouraging to hear considering the rookie learning curve can be difficult at times.
Vaccaro appears to be doing just fine in that department.
