Who Dat Dish: New Orleans Saints News, Rumors And Links For 7/17

The New Orleans Saints are still chugging along toward the season and spending off time working out and staying active in charity. If it makes you feel any better, we’re a lot closer than you think considering the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (booo, I know) just had rookie report for the start of camp.

Anyway, here’s the news and headlines to pay attention to from around the web.

NOLA.com Says Jahari Evans is the No. 3 Overall Player on the Team:

Guard might be the least glamorous position in the NFL. But Evans has managed to make a name for himself as one of the premier offensive linemen in the league with his combination of power and athleticism. Evans has earned four straight trips to the Pro Bowl and four straight first-team All-Pro selections. And he is clearly one of the key reasons why the Saints’ offense has been among the NFL’s elite for so long. Evans has been the one constant on the offensive line; he hasn’t missed a start in his seven-year career.

ESPN Points Out the Saints Have a Brutal Stretch Next Season

Per Pat Yasinskas:

Bradley Handwerger points out that from Nov. 10 through Dec. 2, the Saints will play the Cowboys, 49ers, Falcons and Seahawks. That’s a brutal stretch and Handwerger writes that the Nov. 21 game in Atlanta could go a long way in deciding the NFC South race.

Saints Have One of the Most Versatile Players Per ESPN

Per Pat Yasinskas:

In this Insider postInsider, Gary Horton lists the 10 most versatile players in the NFC. Atlanta defensive end Kroy Biermann and New Orleans running back Darren Sproles are among them. Sproles’ versatility has been well documented. I think we’re going to see the Falcons try to make even more use out of Biermann’s unique skill set this season.
