The Clock Is Ticking To Make Aaron Hernandez Jersey Swaps

The Patriots ProShop has been getting busy at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough MA this morning, and it isn’t because fans are buying gear. No, they’re getting free jersey swaps of the now infamous #81 Aaron Hernandez jersey. The timeframe, or “window of opportunity” as it were to get a free swap is closing fast.

The swap started at Gillette Stadium at 10 a.m. Saturday and runs to 9 p.m. ET. The swap will kick off again on Sunday at 10 a.m. again, but the deadline is 7 p.m Sunday night. For those who can’t make it to the New England Patriots stadium there’s another option, the online site PatriotsProShop.com although it’s not obvious from the site’s homepage that the jersey swap is going on.

Is business brisk? According to some of the fans in line it is:

Even so there’s no way to really gauge how many Hernandez fans are “jumping ship” at this point. At various sports forums across the country there have been Patriots fan supporters who were quite vocal about “innocent until proven guilty” in the early going. That cow may have already gotten out of the barn by now.

It may turn out that the overwhelming amount of evidence in the Odin Lloyd murder case, both gathered and alluded to has cooled off some of Aaron’s hardcore supporters. I’m certain we’ll know soon enough; I expect NFL.com will be sharing the details and the numbers involved in the jersey swap in the near future.
