For many, the combination of football and Disney seems strange. Many only think of the combination after Super Bowl winning players are asked “what are you gonna do now?!” But for Drew Brees, it’s a great opportunity to bring football to student athletes. This weekend, Drew Brees has been throwing his inaugural “Drew Brees Passing Academy and 7-on-7 Tournament” at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney World Resort. If you follow Drew on Twitter, he hasn’t exactly been silent about it:

This weekend is all about the kids and providing them with a chance to learn from guys like Jimmy Graham, Jonathan Vilma, and Brian Schottenheimer. Besides being at Disney, which is awesome just by itself, the participants are given a passing academy and position clinics on the first day. The next day is dominated by a 7-on-7 tournament pool play. Finally, the last day finishes out the 7-on-7 tournament in the championship rounds. There’s more than just football on the field for these kids. In addition to these festivities, there are autograph and photo sessions, a leadership seminar with a guest speaker, and a “Celebration of Athletes” award ceremony.
All in all, it sounds like a pretty great weekend. And if you look at Brees’s Twitter, you will see he’s taken some time to enjoy the park with his family too. And if you know or have kids interested, make sure you register next year! All of the funds raised from the event go to the Brees Dream Foundation. So it’s all for a good cause and some great fun.
