The dust has settled around the Victor Butler injury for the New Orleans Saints, as has the realization that third-year linebacker Martez Wilson is the likely replacement.
With the unfortunate news out of the way it’s time to get back to the good old boring offseason.
Let’s take a look.
Per NOLA.com’s Larry Holder:
A second opinion confirmed what initially was diagnosed, so injured New Orleans Saints outside linebacker Victor Butler will have surgery to repaire his torn anterior cruciate ligament Tuesday, a source said Thursday afternoon.
While it is likely Butler will miss the 2013 season, the Saints haven’t determined if he should be placed on injured reserve.
Per NOLA.com’s Katherine Terrell:
Prohibited items include purses larger than a clutch, seat cushions, fanny packs, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, computer bags and camera bags. Backpacks and coolers were already banned before the 2013 season.
Binoculars are still allowed as long as they aren’t in their own bag.
In a statement on NFL.com, the league acknowledged that the Boston Marathon bombings were a factor in the decision, but said it wasn’t the only reason for the new policy.
“We update and improve the policy every year,” the NFL wrote. “It has evolved so that we can continue to adjust to the realities of public safety. We had been discussing a new approach to bag restrictions before the Boston Marathon incident.”
