The New Orleans Saints have a good amount of news circling the team after a free agent signing and camp continuing to roll right along under the guidance of head coach Sean Payton.
We’ve already covered the signing of cornerback Chris Carr, which quietly happened Tuesday night, but here are a few other headlines worth reading about this morning.
Per NOLA.com’s Gary Sheets:
Ellis, the No. 7 overall pick in 2008, joins former left tackle Jermon Bushrod, defensive end Turk McBride and former offensive line coach Aaron Kromer in the Windy City. Bushrod signed a 5-year, $36 million deal with the Bears, making him the highest paid offensive lineman in the history of that franchise.
Per NOLA.com’s Nakia Hogan:
“Well they are both veterans and smart players, and I think their experience being at another defense, from a learning curve standpoint, they pick things up pretty quickly,” Payton said. “Obviously one of them is playing the Mike over a guard bubble and the other is playing weakside, talking about Jon Vilma now, there are some nuances to the inside linebacker positions, but both of them have handled it well (as well as) the transition of this defense and I think their experience has really helped.”
