The New Orleans Saints used their original pick in the third round of the 2013 NFL draft on Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s offensive tackle Terron Armstead, an athletic freak who could come in and compete for a starting job right away.
It was a smart pick for the Saints with the left tackle position vacant after the departure of Jermon Bushrod, and an insanely good value. All in all, not a bad job of filling needs by the Saints, who were without a second-round pick thanks to the Bountygate scandal.
Armstead is one of the most athletic offensive linemen to ever enter the NFL, and he showed why at the NFL Scouting Combine when, despite weighing in at 306 pounds, ran a 4.71 40-yard dash, recorded a vertical of 34″ and repped 225 pounds 31 times on the bench press.
But enough about the impressive numbers—you want to see him play on the field. We thought it would be a great idea to put together a highlights package of sorts so that Saints fans everywhere can see exactly what the team is getting in their new offensive tackle.
Below you will find highlights and game film of Armstead during his time at Arkansas-Pine Bluff’. His athleticism is undoubtedly on full display in each vido.
