The news, rumors and speculation continue to fly around the New Orleans Saints as we creep closer and closer to the 2013 NFL draft. Plenty of questions still remain as the Saints have mostly been quiet this offseason, but plenty of folks are attempting to figure out all of the answers.
In this edition of the Who Dat Dish we’ll take a look at potential sleeper picks for the Saints in the NFL draft, analyze the future of strong safety Roman Harper and take a peek at the team’s offseason schedule.
Let’s take a look.
Per Pat Yasinskas:
Roman Harper, Saints. New Orleans fans might not want to hear this, but all indications are the Saints are sticking with Harper at strong safety. If they weren’t it’s likely they would have released him by now or at least asked him to take a cut in pay. Only the Saints know what they have planned for Harper. But the fact that he still is around is a pretty good indication that new coordinator Rob Ryan has plans for Harper. That likely means the Saints will let Harper play to his strengths — helping against the run and being used as a blitzer — and not being asked to do too much in coverage.
Per Will Osgood:
The most likely draft picks coming in at the 5-1 mark are Washington cornerback Desmond Trufant, Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones, LSU linebacker Barkevious Mingo and Texas linebacker Alex Okafor.
Per Mike Triplett:
The New Orleans Saints will have to strike gold in the middle rounds of the NFL draft this year since they don’t have a second-round pick (or a seventh). They’ve done that quite a bit in recent years, though they only seem to have the magic touch with offensive players (tight end Jimmy Graham, offensive linemen Jahri Evans, Carl Nicks, Jermon Bushrod and Zach Strief, receiver Marques Colston, among others).
Per the report:
New Orleans Saints April 15 May 21-23, May 28-30, June 10-13 June 4-6 (mandatory)
