Fat Lady hasn't sung on Saints free agency moves

The New Orleans Saints have been understandably quiet in free agency up to this point, but reports say that the team is in talks with a few free-agent players.

Defensive back Nnamdi Asomugha has visited both the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints. Both offer him a chance to win this season, but New Orleans offers the possibility of reuniting with his old defensive coordinator, Rob Ryan.

Ryan coached Asomugha when he was with the Oakland Raiders. Asomugha enjoyed his best seasons in Oakland and coach Ryan could help rejuvenate his career after two dismal season with the Eagles.

Saints fans may have been nervous about the offensive line after Jermon Bushrod was signed by the Chicago Bears. New Orleans has opened up “general talks” with Ravens veteran tackle Bryant McKinnie.

McKinnie is still a great tackle at 33 years-0ld and the Saints need competition at the left tackle position. Head coach Sean Payton has said that the left tackle spot is wide open. The Saints want someone to compete for the job with Charles Brown.

    I’m hoping they draft Trufant”

Trufant would be a great pickup, but I think a good pass rush helps an average secondary. If the Saints can get a good pass rushing linebacker out of the draft I think that would have a greater impact than just adding another defensive back.
