Former Utah defensive tackle Star Lotulelei will not be allowed to participate in workouts at the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine due to failing an echocardiogram during the medical examination.
According to ESPN’s Chris Mortenson the test showed,
“Lotulelei has a low Ejection Fraction and the left ventricle of his heart was pumping at an efficiency rate of 44 percent, well below the normal rate of 55-70 percent.”
Lotulelei is said to be undergoing an extensive round of testing when he returns to Utah and according to his agent, expects him to be able to participate in the school’s Pro Day on March 20th.
Even if he gets a clean bill of health from a doctor, Lotulelei could well find himself go from the first five picks of the 2013 NFL Draft to later in the first round due to some teams simply being nervous.
