A move that got somewhat little press was the breakup of the Garrett Brothers in the Dallas Cowboys organization which up to this point has been a tradition.

It was reported by ProFootballTalk.com that wide receivers coach John Garrett will leave his brother, head coach Jason Garrett, for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

With the Buccaneers John Garrett will be the wide receivers coach as well and will have some offensive weapons to work with such as the physical Vincent Jackson.

John Garrett was also a tight ends coach for the Cowboys at one time and could be seen on their last appearance on HBO’s Hard Knocks series trying to mentor newly drafted tight end Martellus Bennett who appeared less than thrilled on occassion with Garrett’s constant harping on attention to detail.

Brother John leaves behind another Garrett in Dallas since his other brother Judd is Director of Pro Scouting for the Cowboys.  The Garrett’s father Jim was also a scout for the Cowboys from 1987 -2004 and likewise featured on the Cowboys last installment on the Hard Knocks show.
