What ended in an emotional loss by the Atlanta Falcons spilled over into the parking lot and resulted in a fan being seriously injured in an altercation with a San Francisco 49ers fan.

In several reports following the game, the still unnamed Falcons fan punched the 49ers fan in the face after a brief argument.  The 49ers fan then pulled a knife and stabbed the Falcons fan in the throat area.

The incident was said to have occurred in the parking lot outside of the Georgia Dome and police responded quickly to clear the area before things got out of hand.

The 49ers fanbase was linked to several complaints by New Orleans Saints fans in the Divisional Playoff Game last season and said they were the subject of verbal abuse and threats before, during, and after the game.

One Saints fan who had his young daughter with him said that he was actually relieved that the Saints lost because he feared what would have happened to them because of the rowdy crowd.

The next week when the New York Giants played the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game, undercover officers were placed amongst the crowd where they made several arrests before the game even started.
