Some thought this could be the first consecutive Pro Bowl that New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has missed since 2008 but an unfortunate set of circumstances for Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III brings him back to Hawaii again.
Griffin had to have surgery to repair the LCL and ACL in his right knee after a ghastly injury last weekend during the Wild Card Playoffs. While attempting to recover a botched snap, Griffin severely twisted his knee which appeared to simply give out even with a brace on.
Brees was formerly an alternate with Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers as the starter and Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan a reserve along with Griffin.
If either Rodgers or Ryan are still involved in the playoffs, then Brees will move even further up the depth chart. He’ll also join fellow Saints offensive guard Jahri Evans and punter Thomas Morstead who were also selected to go to the Pro Bowl.
