Well Black Monday came and went but just because a few weeks pass doesn’t mean you’re safe. The Jacksonville Jaguars have announced that they have fired head coach Mike Mularkey.
Mularkey was let go after only one season, but it was a 2-14 season for the Jaguars which ended up being the worst in the history of the franchise. Rumors began swirling this week that he could be released even only it has been a short tender.
Since 1994 he has been mainly a tight ends coach but was a head coach for the Buffalo Bills from 2004-2005. Before Jacksonville, Mularkery was the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons starting in 2008.
The Jaguars will now begin their search for a replacement head coach with some takers still in waiting like Lovie Smith, Norv Turner, and one college coach still circulating as possibly hitting the pros which is Notre Dame University’s Brian Kelly.
Whoever it is will have some major points to score figuratively and literally as owner Sahid Khan doesn’t appear to be the kind that wants to wait around on improvement.
