Interim head coach Joe Vitt announced that three New Orleans Saints will not play in the final game against the Carolina Panthers.  Two are starters and one has made nice progress this season as a rookie.

Cornerback Jabari Greer(concussion), running back Pierre Thomas(knee), and defensive tackle Akiem Hicks(knee) are being ruled out.  The question being now is, who will start in their place?

Vitt stated that the “team will discuss tonight” on if cornerback Elbert Mack will take Greer’s spot.  To me there is no discussion.  After seeing cornerback Johnny Patrick’s performance against the Dallas Cowboys, Mack should be a lock.

Running back Chris Ivory, who has been rehabbing a hamstring injury, missed practice all last week and the Cowboys game.  But he has been full in practice the past two days and will likely see Thomas’ snaps.

Hicks has been rotated in and out of the lineup so Sedrick Ellis, Brodrick Bunkley, and Tom Johnson should fill the gaps.  We also might see the activation of Tyrunn Walker but unlikely he gets any playing time.
