Saints defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley receives fine

To top off a tough loss against the Atlanta Falcons last night, some not so happy news came for New Orleans Saints defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley.

Bunkley is said to have been issued a $20,000 fine for his kick that he delivered to the head of San Francisco 49ers offensive lineman Alex Boone.  Boone was on the ground and he and Bunkley appeared to have been chipping back and forth prior to the incident.

After the penalty was assessed to the Saints after the play, Bunkley was ejected from the game.  Immediately everyone thought of the kick  that Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh delivered last Thanksgiving against the Green Bay Packers.

It was fully expected that Bunkley would receive a suspension but he somehow avoided it.  He was obviously frustrated during the 49ers game and defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo said that the incident was out of character for him.

New Orleans Saints players must watch what they do they are already under the radar, with this so call pay-for-injuries mess. Which is about to come to an end this has been a turf year for the New Orleans Saints.

As a Saints fan, a fine was appropriate. In all honesty, I wouldn’t have had hurt feelings over a one game suspension. What set Bunkley aside from Suh was that this was out of character for him and he wasn’t considered a “habitual offender”. However, this type of action has no place on our team or any team.
