If it wasn’t enough that the Thursday game against the Atlanta Falcons was being billed up as rivalry and revenge game, things were reportedly ramped up even more this evening.
According to NOLA.com, when the team arrived in Atlanta at the airport, the Saints got the unwelcome sign put out for them as they boarded their charter bus enoute to the hotel.
Players began to tweet that their bus was being pelted with eggs. The hailstorm of unborn poultry came not from Falcons fans, but allegedly from workers at the airport.
Quarterback Chase Daniel tweeted:
Wow, as we’re boarding buses on the Tarmac @ Atlanta airport, we start getting eggs thrown @ us by airport workers! Guess they do hate us!
Other players retweeted or posted messges of their own confirming the incident. But according to several reports, the Saints weren’t the only ones to suffer such a juvenile act.
Saints fans in town to see their team play were also said to have eggs thrown at them as they were on the way to the airport terminal. It’s unknown if it was the same individuals who threw them at the team.
Needless to say, this should make for an interesting game as well as possible arrests for the glaring breach in airport security that would allow such an incident to happen.
