Wide receiver Joe Morgan had rough patch today as he dropped a sure pass from quarterback Luke McCown.  On the other hand, Andy Tanner looked very good making catches in some tight coverage.

The defense took a “anything you can do I can do better” approach against the offense.  It became a back and forth tennis match where whenever the offense would gain ground or score, the defense would return the favor with nice stop.

On several plays, the defense would completely stuff the likes of running backs Thomas and Ivory.  Of course, the defense made a nice play in the passing game as well.

Cornerback Patrick Robinson provided coverage on an incomplete pass to tight end Jimmy Graham.  On another series, free safety Malcolm Jenkins intercepted Brees, making it two days in a row that he’s done this.

Not to be outdone, the linebacker corps decided to get in on the action.  Forgotten man Jonathan Casillas had a batted pass yesterday and today leapt up to make a one handed interception off Brees.

Third-round choice defensive lineman Akiem Hicks looked good again today just as he did in the preseason game against the New England Patriots.  Hicks burst through on third down drills and nailed Ivory for a loss.
