New Orleans Saints 2012 sixth-round pick guard Andrew Tiller has surgery; injured reserve likely

According to Larry Holder of The Times-Picayune, the New Orleans Saints 2012 sixth-round draft pick offensive guard Andrew Tiller had surgery today to repair a torn triceps muscle.

His recovery time is listed as being 4-6 months and Holder says he’s likely to be placed on injured reserve.  Tiller was absent from the preseason matchup last night against the New England Patriots.

Tricep injuries are common among offensive and defensive lineman with offensive lineman trying to hold blocks and defensive lineman trying to fight them off.  Former Saints defensive lineman Charles Grant suffered a triceps injury that effectively ended his career with the team.

Tiller was selected by the Saints after spending his college career at Syracuse University.
