Henderson is reportedly having a rough camp so far and it can’t come at a worse time. He is currently in the last year of his contract with the Saints and popular opinion is that if Henderson doesn’t step up his game, he could not be re-signed next season or possibly even gone this year.
The pressure for Henderson is coming from rookie receiver’s Nick Toon and Joe Morgan. Both are thought of highly by the coaches and could fill the role. According to some of the media, Toon faltered some early today in practice but later found his stride.
Another receiver hungry for a spot is Adrian Arrington, who is said to have had three great practices in a row. Arrington knows this is the end of the road for him with the Saints if he loses out, so he’s making the most of his opportunity and won’t go quietly.
While this is only the third practice, it’s encouraging to see the defense making some plays early on. We’ll see if they can keep the tempo up when the Saints resume practice on Sunday which will be from 4:00 p.m.-6:45 p.m.
