Head Coach Mike Smith had this to say:

“Lofa sustained a pectoral injury while working out recently.  At this point, we do not know the extent of the injury, but we expect to have more information early next week.”

While the Falcons remain optimistic that Tatupu might only miss some time at training camp which starts on Thursday, ProFootballTalk.com updated the situation with a report from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution saying the injury was “serious”.

The AJC also reported that Tatupu will see specialist James Andrews on Monday to determine if the injury to his pectoral muscle is simply just a strain or if it is ruptured.
