Defensive end Andre Carter-this is the one player I hope the Saints have been looking at.  Carter is a true 4-3 defensive end which he thrives in and was a force with the Washington Redskins until they switched to a 3-4 in 2010 under Mike Shanahan

When Carter signed with the New England Patriots in 2011 he signed a one-year deal that had a base salary of $1.75 million and after incentives was worth a total of $2.75 million.

He totaled 10 sacks that year with four in one game against the New York Jets on November 13.  Carter unfortunately tore his left quadriceps tendon on December 18 and was out for the rest of the season and off the Patriots roster during the offseason.

If Carter is healthy enough, he could be a steal since he signed a meager deal worth a total of $2.75 million with the Patriots.  What also might lower his price is his age, 33, but sweeten the deal is his 11 year career sack total, 76.  Worth a look.

With Dwight Freeney at 14 million I believe we can get 2 or 3 with this much money and good ones. Luis Castillo could be one, Andre Carter, and Tommie Harris or James Hall all veterans they knows the line.

Larry Holder commented that Freeney would require a Reggie Bush-type trade plus Freeney may be more interested in money at his age(33).  If I had to pick two, granted they’re healthy, Andre Carter would be my first choice for a defensive end and for a defensive tackle would be a tight one with either Castillo or Harris.  Harris was a three time Pro Bowler and if the Patriots were looking at Castillo, then they obviously know something.
