The New Orleans Saints can head into training camp with no holdouts and everyone accounted for from the 2012 NFL Draft after it was announced that they had signed wide receiver Nick Toon.
Toon was signed to a four-year deal with no details as of yet to the amount. He was the last member of the Saints 2012 draft picks to sign and will be headed to training camp.
After being drafted in the fourth round, Toon developed quite a buzz heading into rookie mini-camp and organized team activities. But now he will get the ultimate treat for a rookie wide receiver.
The former Wisconsin receiver will be catching passes from quarterback Drew Brees in training camp which is important since Brees wasn’t there for OTA’s and he needs to develop a comfort level with Toon.
Toon should really try to develop the relationship in earnest since he will be in contention to battle for the fourth wide receiver spot on the roster that was vacated by former Saints receiver Robert Meachem.
Toon finished his college career with 171 catches for 2,447 yards and 18 touchdowns. During mini-camp, Toon has drawn comparisons to current Saints wide receiver Marques Colston, which isn’t bad company to be in.
