Defensive end Greg Romeus clears waivers; returns to Saints

In one of my recent articles, (click here), I suggested that if recently released defensive end Greg Romeus cleared waivers, he could return to the New Orleans Saints.

NFL writer Adam Caplan and WIST Radio’s Larry Holder both confirmed that Romeus is indeed back with the Saints, but will be on injured reserve due to his season ending surgery from a torn ACL and MCL in his knee.

His release this past week shocked and saddened the cult following that Romeus has garnered due mainly to the excitement of finally getting to see last year’s draft pick play.

Romeus was sidelined last season because of a knee injury he suffered during college his senior year.  Before the injury, he was projected as a top draft pick.

Now the ever battled defensive end will have to sit out another season making this over two years since he has played any type of football.

The Saints committed to helping Romeus recover after this latest hard luck injury but released him in hopes that he would clear waivers.  Now, a long road to recovery exists for him to return for a stint next season.
