ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported that the number that has been given months ago for what Brees is asking for, $23 million per year, is a bit inflated.  This is something Brees said just recently.

Mortensen stated that the figure is actually $20.3 million per year with the Saints offering close to $19 million.  With numbers this close, you might wonder why a deal can’t be reached as we speak.

The issue, according to Mortensen, is the amount of guaranteed money that Brees is wanting.  While talks have stalled, there have been some minor exchanges moving forward.

Patience is becoming a virtue with Who Dat Nation and while the opening of mini-camp hasn’t drawn record crowds like in the past, fans are still showing their support towards back up quarterback Chase Daniel.

While the evolution of Daniel may be fun and inspiring to watch, the appearance of the #9 red practice jersey jogging onto the field at Airline Drive will be a welcome sight.
