New Orleans Saints will benefit from development of quarterback Chase Daniel

Daniel has never been given the opportunity to step up except during preseason or when the Saints had a comfortable lead going into the final part of  the fourth quarter.  Even when he did appear on the field, most of the plays were running or short passes.

And frankly even when Daniel did pass, it wasn’t the smooth, calculated plays we see Brees make with that cool confidence.  It looks like that could change with the trial by fire Daniel is going through at the moment.

When the media was granted access to the OTA’s on Thursday, they noted that it was strange not seeing “#9″ on the field, but Daniel was handling the session well.  Mike Triplett of The Times-Picayune reported he actually scrambled for a potential 60 yard touchdown.

If Daniel is progressing at a high rate, it bodes well for the Saints in the fact that not only will they be secure with a back-up quarterback in case something would ever keep Brees out of a game or games, but for potential trade options.

Daniel is currently signed for another year, but the team could sign him to a multi-year contract next year and explore a trade option possibly with another team.  It’s not totally inconceivable…Matt Flynn anyone?

This is a good thing that Chase Daniel had an opportunity to see what it feel like to train with the first offensive team experience is good for Chase Daniel. New Orleans Saints has to win 2013 Super Bowl and its good to have everyone ready to perform. Every team are going to be trying to hold the Saints back I can’t wait for the season to start we are going to see a different New Orleans Saints team in 2012. I believe Drew Brees will be part of 2012 season him and Chase Daniel are going to take us to another Super Bowl Championship win all of you people’s that say Drew Brees need to leave the Saints. Once a New Orleans Saints always a Saints so Drew Brees is at home and we going to keep him at home.

This is really good to hear. Whether we as Saints fans want to hear it or not, there is going to come a time when Drew will no longer be with the team and having a good reliable qb to fall back on is immeasurable. Just look how it paid off for the 49ers, Packers, Patriots, and Rams. All former Backups that led their teams to the SuperBowl and victory in the big game. Keep it up Chase!! Your time is coming.

@LI Saint ; I don’t know to much about Chase Daniel but if Drew Brees don’t play this season or no more I believe the Saints will be alright like you said its a first time for everything. The game must go on with or without Brees I know we all would love for him to be there but its just one of these things I don’t know what the problem is but the only ones that knows is Tom Benson, Mickey Loomis, Drew Brees, and his agent. Those 4 must come to an agreement its all about the money I knew Brees was hurt playing for the chargers and the New Orleans Saints took him in this act to count for something for the Saints a Saints discount or something they took a change on him with 60 million. Maybe they will come to a deal both sides will make money so what’re the problem but anyway Chase is working hard trying to get ready for the season I knew when Chase Daniel hit that field and all eyes were on him that he might be the one if Drew Brees don’t step up to the plate. Spent to much time off the field.

@larryjames836  @LI Chase will be fine. According to all OTA reports, the offense that the Saints are practicing is the same thing that they have been running for the pass 5 years and Chase has fallen  right in to the program and has been doing great (see the reports by Jeff Triplett of the Times-Picayune). Who knows what is going on with the Brees contract (my opinion of Drew has changed somewhat since all of this started) but I do know that we, as Saints fans, and the Saints, as an organization, have to move on and continue to march on. Whatever happens in regards to the Brees deal we will be fine. We live and die as Saints and we all bleed black and gold.

@LI Saint @LI ; If Drew Brees sit out the 2012 can the New Orleans Saints organization drop another franchise tag on him in 2013. These tags add up to be a lot of money would it be better to keep tagging him are better to sign him. In the tags both sides make money right I’m just wondering someone is making money even in the long term contract would both sides make money are would the Saints loss on the long run. Do Drew Brees want the same contract like the one Peyton Manning has that special contract I know Mickey Loomis knows how to create money. So I’m think Mickey Loomis pushing that pencil about now trying to generate some extra money before signing Brees long term contract. Mickey Loomis are going to turn over every rock before making a decision on Brees contract.

JamesMorse; Thanks have heard if they going to sign Drew Brees before the season start do Tom Benson & Mickey Loomis still working on his contract. Are they mad at Drew Brees for refusing they first offer can a player receive a offer without they agent you remember they offered Brees the highest paid player in the NFL. I’m just wondering if that refusal turned them off plus the Saints were asking for a Saints discount was that out of line for the Saints organization to ask for a discount. I believe if Drew Brees would have gone and practice with the team maybe this have proved a point, because they gave Chris Ivory his bonus when he don’t play the hold season. This surprise me I was not looking for them to give Chris Ivory that I think it was surprising to Chris Ivory to you know the Saints organization is not like the other they love their players. I know it sounds crazy but Drew Brees should have went on and practice to show them he really love being a WHODAT if they brought him in when no other team wanted him
