While everyone is praying and hoping that the New Orleans Saints will come to terms on a long-term contract for franchise quarterback Drew Brees, the current development of back-up quarterback Chase Daniel looks very promising.

What started out as a joke several months ago has become a reality for the Saints and their fans.  Back-up quarterback Chase Daniel is currently, and technically, the starting quarterback for the team.

In another side note, the back-up quarterback for the team is now on again/off again roster hopper Sean Canfield. Canfield has parted ways with the Saints and come back more times than Reggie Bush and Kim Kardashian in their former relationship.

Now, the current situation is merely a formality since a deal with Brees is forthcoming whether it’s this week or later. The important thing is that Daniel is getting much needed reps during his absence.

Reports are coming in that Daniel has been progressing well during organized team activities(OTA’s).  While this is nothing new since he has always worked out during OTA’s, the difference now is that it is exclusively with the first team offense.

First team offense is usually reserved for Brees but with him not attending, the duties now fall to Daniel.  Frankly, while fans are sweating the Brees situation, it’s actually very good for the Saints.
